Bob was appointed as Honorary Assistant Priest to St Bartholomew’s Church in 2019
Bob is the the Anglican Communion Lead for Thy Kingdom Come, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s worldwide wave of prayer that people should pray for their friends, families, communities and countries to come to know Jesus. This now annual event run from Ascension to Pentecost and had 170 countries involved in 2020. He was Dean of Jersey for twelve years before his retirement in 2017 and has been Canon Preacher of the Diocese of the Rio Grande since 2004
As Dean of Jersey he held his office under Letters Patent from Her Majesty the Queen and led the Church across the Island. He was a member of the Island’s parliament.
He spent most of his ministry in Oxford where he was Vicar of St Andrew’s, a large and lively Church in the famous University city welcoming a thousand people through the doors each Sunday.
Bob has preached and lectured all over the world, from Sydney to Siberia and has taught in colleges and seminaries in India, Asia and the USA. He taught Preaching at Wycliffe Hall Oxford for ten years and has lectured on evangelism and pastoral reflections on New Testament theology.
He met his wife Daphne at Bristol university where they were both reading theology and they have been married for 46 years. Three grown up children who, together with four grandchildren, complete the family.
Bob is a founder member of the Archbishops’ College of Evangelists
He is Bishop’s Visitor for the Bishop’s Mission Order Scheme in Ivelchester Deanery
