Ready Set Go, Fathers’ Day
At primary and first schools across the country in the next few weeks there will be sports days with the infamous Mums and Dads races.
At a Father’s race a few years ago I certainly wasn’t ready when the starting gun went off as I was still wondering if it was a good idea to run barefoot rather than in the sandals I was wearing. I was hardly set as the more competitive dads were scrambling for the best starting position and I was far from going anywhere fast, compared to the young 20 something dads shooting down the track in running shoes, not to mention the rugby style push I received from another dad scornfully viewing my bare feet during the stampede at the start.
“7As you go, proclaim the good news, “The kingdom of heaven has come near.”
8Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. “ Matthew 10
Fortunately God doesn’t expect us all to race across primary sports fields but His call is for us all, not just the fathers or parents among us but all of us,
to Go out to all people, ready with the message of hope in the Good News of Jesus Christ , set in the power of the Spirit.
We run His race, with His message in His power ,in the love of God our Father.
With every blessing
